Today, the US Navy has 11 operational and combat ready aircraft carriers. A twelfth carrier, the USS Independence, is due to be decommissioned in the Fall at Bremerton, Washington. Two new ships are now under construction, the USS Harry S. Truman and the USS Ronald Reagan.
